STEP ONE: “Tackling the pounds”
My time in undergrad just seemed to fly by, and just like the years quickly added up so did that infamous “freshman fifteen.” If you have ever lived the “dorm life” you know how extremely difficult it is to eat healthy and stay in shape, your weight is constantly fluctuating, and you find yourself in a new size every couple of months.
I lived on campus for FOUR years as a resident advisor and the meal plan got the best of me, I would have pasta for lunch, dinner and a midnight snack sometimes. If you’re a nutritionist you’re probably screaming NOOOOOO!!!! Believe me my waistline agrees with you.
I GRADUATED with a degree in Journalism (minor in Media Production) and I am now on the path to become an ON-AIR Broadcast Reporter. I learned in school that the camera is not nice it adds 10lbs!, so NO more late night food runs, and inconsistent cardio motivation. The decision has been made, I told myself back in college that I needed to get my body fit and now that I am out of college and staring my career in the face, I will be DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
I hired a PERSONAL TRAINER to whip me into shape, she is amazing, her name is FRANKIE!!!! she is the sweetest little person you will ever meet. The first day I spoke with her on the phone, because she sounded so meek and mild, I didn't think she would be that much of a drill Sergeant; but boy was I wrong!...LOL!
I meet her last Monday in person and still she was sooo nice we went over the types of food I should be eating and what types of work outs we would be doing. The real Frankie came out this Monday (July 13, 2009) when I had my first session and she wore me out!! We ran, did pushups, sit-ups, squats, whatever you can think of we did it. She JAMM-PACKED all of this into one hour! AMAZING!! I went home sore, but somewhere inside I was happy, excited for the next work-out... Frankie is opening the first door for me on my new JOURNEY!!! Stay tuned- there is so much more to come!!
